Leaving Certificate Music – Perform, Compose, Listen
Nurturing Musical Skill, Expression, and Appreciation Through Creative and Aural Experiences
Studying music for the Leaving Certificate gifts a student with knowledge, appreciation and enrichment for life. Music develops sensitivity to sounds and enhances language learning. Studying Music involves a series of interrelated musical activities within each of the three fundamental areas of musical experience: performing, composing and listening.
Performing: Students choose from a variety of individual and/or group performing activities and must perform 4 pieces of music or song. Performance counts for 50% of the overall Leaving Certificate mark and takes place in March.
