Junior Cycle Geography – Understanding Our World

Exploring Place, People, and Change Through Geoliteracy

Junior Cycle Geography encourages students to critically explore the world around them. This is achieved through the three interconnected strands: Exploring the physical world; Exploring how we interact with the physical world; and Exploring people, place, and change, with one overarching concept entitled Geoliteracy.

Students will learn how to interpret various types of geographic information and data. They will become involved in researching a geographic event and completing field research in their Classroom Based Assessments.
