Student Exchange Programme

SOUTH AFRICA

A number of years ago CUS initiated a student exchange programme with two of South Africas top boarding schools, Kearsney College in Durban and St Albans College in Pretoria.

In January each year five Transition Year students are chosen to travel to South Africa for eight weeks.  Whilst there the students must attend classes and become involved in all aspects of school life.  This has been a wonderful experience for all our students chosen to travel.

In June four students travel for six weeks to participate in their rugby season.  This has proven an major incentive for our senior rugby players as those chosen benefit enormously from the training they receive whilst in South Africa.

Each year, CUS welcomes students from St Albans and Kearsney College in September.  The students are hosted by CUS families during their stay here and participate in and experience Irish school and family life.

The success of our student exchange programme, which was the first of its kind in Ireland, has encouraged other schools to look at the possibility of becoming involved in similar initiatives.
