Student Exchange Programme
A number of years ago CUS initiated a student exchange programme with two of South Africas top boarding schools, Kearsney College in Durban and St Albans College in Pretoria.
In January each year five Transition Year students are chosen to travel to South Africa for eight weeks. Whilst there the students must attend classes and become involved in all aspects of school life. This has been a wonderful experience for all our students chosen to travel.
In June four students travel for six weeks to participate in their rugby season. This has proven an major incentive for our senior rugby players as those chosen benefit enormously from the training they receive whilst in South Africa.
Each year, CUS welcomes students from St Albans and Kearsney College in September. The students are hosted by CUS families during their stay here and participate in and experience Irish school and family life.
The success of our student exchange programme, which was the first of its kind in Ireland, has encouraged other schools to look at the possibility of becoming involved in similar initiatives.

In 2007, CUS initiated a student exchange with our Marist school in Malgrat, Barcelona, Spain. Each year a group of 2nd year students travel to Malgrat and spend time with Spanish families and attend school. The students from Malgrat return to Dublin staying with CUS families and attend classes in CUS. This exchange has been extended to include 4th & 5th year students.
In 2012, CUS initiated a student exchange with our Marist school in Toulon, France. A group of 2nd year students travelled to France for 5 nights with the French students visiting Dublin in March. It was a very successful initiative and has continued successfully since then. It has also been extended to 4th & 5th year students.
In 2014, CUS initiated a student exchange with our Marist school in Fuertenzall, Germany with our 2nd year students. This exchange has been extended to include 4th & 5th year students.
