Student Exchange: South Africa
Across the Equator: The CUS South Africa Exchange Experience
Sport, Culture, and Connection Across Continents
The South Africa Exchange Programme at Catholic University School is a unique opportunity that blends cultural immersion with sporting excellence, offering students the chance to live, train, and learn in some of South Africa’s most prestigious schools.
Through partnerships with schools such as Kearsney College, St. Alban’s, and St. Stithians, CUS students are welcomed into host families and engage in rugby or cricket exchanges that stretch beyond sport. Students experience life as both boarders and day pupils, participate in local training sessions, and explore South African heritage and landscapes—from bustling cities to unforgettable safaris.
The return exchange welcomes South African students to Dublin, where they experience Irish school life, take part in sports, and explore Ireland’s culture and history. The programme creates lasting international friendships, fosters global awareness, and helps students grow in confidence and independence.
Whether in the classroom, on the pitch, or with their host families, students gain a deep appreciation for South African life, while representing CUS with pride abroad. It is an exchange that combines adventure, education, and personal growth—leaving a lasting impact long after the trip ends.
