From Dublin to Bavaria: The CUS German Exchange Experience
A Cultural and Educational Journey to Bavaria and Beyond
The German Exchange Programme at Catholic University School gives students the chance to explore life in Fürstenzell, near the historic city of Passau, through a rewarding and immersive cultural experience. Open to students studying German, the exchange combines language learning, travel, and cross-cultural connection.
CUS students stay with German host families, attend classes at the Mariengymnasium, and experience the German education system first-hand. Throughout their stay, students participate in a variety of excursions to places like Linz, Regensburg, and Munich, where they explore history, technology, and local traditions—often accompanied by snowfall and authentic Bavarian charm.
In return, German exchange students travel to Dublin and are welcomed into CUS homes and classrooms. They attend school, take part in Irish cultural outings, and strengthen the friendships begun abroad.
The exchange promotes language development, independence, and a broader global perspective, offering students the chance to use their German in real-life settings while creating memories that last a lifetime.
