C.U.S. Development Programme

The Catholic University School Development Programme is an ambitious whole-school initiative inspired by our Marist ethos. It includes major upgrades to existing facilities and the construction of two significant new buildings on the site.

This plan reflects our commitment to putting in place the best possible learning environment to nurture the holistic development of every student, fostering a community grounded in faith, care, and excellence in the heart of Georgian Dublin.

Phase 1 (completed 2025) – Restoration & upgrading of 89-92 Leeson Street:

Introduction of 6 new interactive Classrooms, fully equipped for the modern curriculum with interactive whiteboards and several Specialist/Resource Rooms across three floors in the school’s original Georgian buildings.

Phase 2 – New West Building & New Lecture Theatre/Multi-Purpose Space

(West Building to be completed in Autumn 2026)

Phase 2 involves a significant new two-storey over basement building (West Building). This block will contain Interactive Classrooms, Language Laboratories, an Art Room and a new School Canteen.

A new glass structure will connect the Georgian buildings to the existing chapel, which will in turn link in with the new West Building. As a final piece in this phase of development (once the new Gymnasium is in place), the chapel will be transformed into a Multi-Purpose Social Space and a Lecture Theatre which will be available for drama and musical performances, debating and a range of other uses.

Phase 3 – Science Block & New Gymnasium

(expected completion date Spring 2028)

This new three-storey-over-basement building, located at the north-east of the site, will replace a smaller, existing building and will include:

• Interactive Classrooms designed to the most modern standards;

• A new Science Centre, with a flexible design centred around four laboratories with interconnecting Prep. Rooms;

• A new, fully-equipped school Gymnasium

This is a comprehensive Development Programme which will significantly enhance learning outcomes for your sons and for future generations of C.U.S. Past Pupils, creating an environment that prepares them for future challenges and opportunities in their third-level education and their careers.

Our vision for the future of our school blends tradition with innovation, ensuring CUS is at the cutting edge of modern education and that it continues its proud legacy at the heart of Georgian Dublin.

Together, guided by our Marist values, we are building something extraordinary for our boys for generations to come.
